Derby, England -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/13/2017 -- University of Virginia have released a blog which states that an undergraduate-led company, Babylon Micro-Farms, have decided to make the effort by making fresher fruit and vegetables through small hydroponic farms, this is said to make fresh fruit and vegetables easily accessible to more people.
Hydroponics is a form of growing plants in sand, gravel or liquid, this form of growing does not use soil however uses added nutrients. Hydroponics uses around ninety-percent less water than soil does, and grows more food in a quicker period of time. Often the hydroponic systems are used in mass production, which means they're rather large for the average person who simply wants to grow just fresh fruit and vegetables. Babylon Micro-Farms have created a system which is perfect for home use, with the measurements being six feet wide by three feet deep and six feet tall.
A spokesperson from one of the UK leading hydroponics providers, Tropicanna Horticulture, was incredibly keen to comment saying "We think that it was brilliant that this team of students have such an interest in hydroponics, and even created a personal hydroponics system for people.
